Google last night announced a third-party branch of the Android 12 operating system, which is being built with an eye on folding screen devices, tablets and Chrome OS. A separate release is called Android 12L, and the first developer preview is available now.
The OS is the familiar Android 12, but with the ability to display much more windows and any other information. A revamped multitasking mode, a two-column lock screen with two, and an iPad-style taskbar are also expected. Google still promises full compatibility with all applications, even without additional optimization from the developers.
The first beta of Android 12L will be released in December, in January – the second, in February – the third, and the full release, apparently, will take place in March.
