Gamers are increasingly betting on the new generation, and as such, sales of the ‘old lady’ PlayStation 4 are plummeting. The problem is that despite all the efforts, it is very likely that the stock of the PS5 will not improve considerably until the end of the year. In fact, it is very likely that the difficulties will continue until at least the middle of 2022.
PS4 sales plummeting. But there aren’t enough PS5 consoles yet
So it’s increasingly obvious that the PlayStation 4 era has come to an end. At least in terms of sales of new units. In the end, although Sony’s current plan dictates that the PS4 will continue to be the goose that lays the golden eggs, this phenomenon only happens due to the boom in consoles already sold in the last 8 years.
By the way, Sony has so much PS4 sold, that the great exclusive games initially thought for the PS5 will also reach the old console. As is the case with Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and God of War Ragnarok.
So, as Sony manages to produce more next-gen consoles, things will start to reverse. Especially, because in less than a year after the console’s release, the Japanese giant has already managed to start making a profit on every PS5 unit sold.
However, as there are not enough units yet… This raises a question… What will happen on Christmas 2021? If there is no interest in PS4, and there are no PS5 consoles for sale. Players will buy what?
Besides, what do you think about all this? What will Christmas be like for Sony? Please share your opinion with us in the comments below.
