Apple has filed a lawsuit against the NSO Group and its parent company for spying on iPhone users with Pegasus spyware.
In the lawsuit, Apple is attaching information about how the NSO Group infiltrated people’s iPhones using Pegasus spyware. Apple asks for a permanent NSO Group injunction against use of Apple software, services or devices.
“Government-funded entities like the NSO Group spend millions of dollars on sophisticated surveillance technology without effective accountability. This needs to be changed. Apple devices are the safest consumer hardware on the market, but private companies that develop government-sponsored spyware have become even more dangerous. Although these cybersecurity threats affect only a very small number of our customers, we take any attack against our users very seriously, and are constantly working to strengthen the security and privacy protection in iOS to ensure the safety of all our users, ”said Craig Federighi, Sr. Apple’s vice president of software development.
In addition, Apple plans to provide $ 10 million to organizations that research the interests of cybercriminals.
