A Amazfit, once a brand in the Xiaomi ecosystem dedicated to smart watches or smartwatches, is now the hottest brand in this niche market. Indeed, the manufacturer managed to surpass Huawei and assert itself as the third force in this mobile device sector.
The data is advanced by Counterpoint Research, more specifically in its Global Smartwatch Model Tracker study. There, we see not only Apple in first place, with Samsung and WearOS in second place, but also a new third place.
Amazfit asserts itself as the world’s third largest manufacturer of smartwatches
O smartwatch Amazfit GTR 3 costs since 149 € on Amazon.ES
The place hitherto occupied by Huawei now belongs to Amazfit. An achievement that is due to the approximately 9.9 million units of smart watches shipped during the third quarter of 2021 (Q3 2021). In fact, this figure represents a growth of 89% for Amazfit compared to the same period of the previous year.
As such, we now see Amazfit with 5.8% of the global smartwatch market share, leaving Huawei behind. It is, in fact, another market in which Huawei continues to slide, after having lost relevance in the mobile market in China and in the world.
The same Counterpoint Research report also highlights Amazfit’s cross-border growth. Thus, in addition to growing in popularity in its home market, China, it is also showing itself as a sensation brand in western markets such as Europe.
Apple dominates, Samsung grows with WearOS, but who surprises is Amazfit
While Huawei is heading towards irrelevance, also in this sector, we see new brands such as Amazfit quickly filling the void left behind. Meanwhile, also Samsung, now equipped with WearOS in its watches, is taking great steps towards the dominance of this growing market.
Above, we see the illustrative chart of market dynamics over the quarters. Note, the big boom for the green band, representative of Samsung watches with WearOS from Google, while its Tizen is now insignificant.
Furthermore, we also see the gradual growth of Amazfit, represented in yellow, while Huawei regresses into insignificance after a notable growth between the same periods of 2019 and 2020.
The Amazfit GT3 generation is the latest to arrive in Europe
In particular, Amazfit has found a receptive market in Europe. According to Counterpoint, it did so mostly in markets like Italy, Spain and Germany where models like the GTR 2e, GTS 2e, and T-Rex Pro were in high demand.
Finally, Amazfit now has the generation of Amazfit GTR3 watches already in stores with more elegant, capable and intelligent solutions. The price? It remains very competitive compared to other alternatives on the market.
