Alien Isolation Lead Designer has joined Rare to lead the design team behind Everwild. Gary Napper confirmed this week that he has taken on the role of director of game design, which has not been heard of for several years.
“I’m delighted to announce that I joined Rare today as Everwild’s design director,” confirmed Napper. “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to create amazing things with this incredible team and studio.” Napper is the latest member of the team to join the project and is rumored to be in some trouble lately.
Earlier this year, insiders reported that Everwild was “completely rebooted” following the departure of its creative director, users noticed that the game was missing during the Xbox and Bethesda launch at E3 2021. According to various sources, the departure of creative director Simon Woodruff last year resulted in a complete a redesign and direction of the game; and significant changes in senior management. According to people familiar with the development of Everwild, the design of the game was essentially “relaunched from scratch,” which means that it will probably take several years before release. Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Bootie said last month that the Rare Everwild team wants to make sure there is “something special” about them before showing the game publicly again.
