Nicolas Cage is cast as Dracula in Universal Pictures’ film Renfield, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The publication does not disclose the details of the plot of the film.
It is known that the main character of Renfield will be Renfield, Dracula’s apprentice and assistant, mentioned in the novel by Bram Stoker. The role of Renfield allegedly went to actor Nicholas Hoult.
Renfield will be directed by Chris McKay, director of The Lego Movie: Batman and Tomorrow’s Wars. McKay will also be producing the film, sharing this post with Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Brian Furst and Sean Furst.
For Cage, the newspaper notes, this is the first major studio project in a decade. The actor’s last studio film was Ghost Rider 2, released in 2011. Then Cage switched to indie projects.
