A joint project of the Aquarius group of companies and Kaspersky Lab is presented – a protected smartphone Aquarius CMP NS M11, intended for the military and intelligence officers. Until the end of the year, the device will be released in a limited edition of 3,000 copies. In the consumer market, the gadget is unlikely to be in demand, but it can be in demand by law enforcement officers whose use of personal devices is controlled.
According to Alexander Kalinin, co-owner of the National Computer Corporation (owned by the Aquarius Group), this is a completely domestic smartphone – it is positioned by the manufacturer as a PDA (pocket personal computer). The device runs under the control of KasperskyOS, which defines a set of capabilities. “We are positioning a PDA as a device for accessing corporate services through applications in a protected mode. One of its elements is IP connections, which are protected by special software “, – Vladimir Stepanov, head of the Aquarius Group, told about the project. In the future, Aquarius plans to release devices running the Aurora OS and Android.
The project is estimated at 1 billion rubles, and potential users of the smartphone, in addition to employees of law enforcement agencies, are officials and employees of state-owned companies. The developers do not specify on what hardware platform the device works, but they call it “Completely Russian”… Kaspersky Lab clarified that KasperskyOS has an architecture, solutions on which have “cyber immunity” from most cyber attacks. The platform is aimed at consumers with high digital security requirements.
In 2019, after the introduction of amendments to the federal law “On the status of military personnel,” additional restrictions on the use of personal gadgets came into effect: during combat duty and being on the territory of the unit, it was forbidden to carry telephones, tablet computers and other devices that allow connect to the internet and store data.
