Seagate Technology has added 20TB Exos and IronWolf Pro 3.5-inch hard drives to its portfolio. In the new products, the company used CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording) recording technology and ten magnetic plates at once. This is one more than Western Digital uses in devices of the same size.
The 20-terabyte Seagate Exos and IronWolf Pro hard drives feature 7200 rpm spindle speeds, helium-filled internal space, a 256-megabyte DRAM buffer, and a data transfer rate of up to 285 MB / s. The Exos series is an enterprise-class HDD and will be available in SATA 6Gb / s and SAS 12Gb / s versions. At the same time, the new IronWolf Pro is designed for use in network storage and is equipped with SATA 6 Gb / s.
The 20-terabyte Seagate Exos and IronWolf Pro series HDDs will go on sale this month with MSRPs of $ 670 and $ 650, respectively.
