The latest firmware update for the PlayStation 5 system has just been released, and if you were expecting a new patch that will improve the stability of the console, then you are completely right. The latest system patch – once again improves system performance, and that’s it.
That being said, a PS5 that runs smoother than ever before is always welcome. The patch notes for version: 02.21-04.50.00 simply states, “This system software update improves system performance.”
The biggest update to the PS5 system to date is the September patch, which adds support for M.2 discs, additional 3D audio support for TV speakers, and several other quality of life improvements. The PS5 still has a way to go before its UI is more in line with what the PS4 offered, as some of the more fan-requested updates include custom folders for organizing games and a wider selection of background themes.
Aside from these constant UI updates, things have been going smoothly for Sony as it reported that it has sold over 10 million PS5 consoles to date.
