The removal of classes and the inclusion of specialists has been one of the most controversial decisions in Battlefield 2042. And it looks like EA and DICE will expand on that point. According to industry insider Tom Henderson, the next game, Battlefield, is slated to be a hero shooter.
As Henderson said, BF’s next game (let’s call it Battlefield 2023 for now) won’t ditch the Specialists. Instead, DICE will improve them as the game is called a hero shooter.
This will clearly disappoint many Battlefield fans. And honestly, it looks like this franchise has completely lost its identity. Rather than improving what sets Battlefield apart from other shooters, DICE is trying to copy what others have done.
As stated, the removal of the classes has disappointed many BF fans. And some BF fans hoped DICE would learn a lesson. However, EA and DICE support this new take on BF.
This also means that DICE will not re-implement the classes in BF2042. Some hoped that DICE would listen to fans to correct their mistakes. Well, that won’t happen.
It’s worth noting that Battlefield 2023 is in its early stages of development. In this way, things can change. In fact, things will only change if the BF2042 fails completely. The game has been losing a lot of players lately. So if this continues and the game explodes harder than Anthem, DICE and EA can reconsider the situation!
