Some time ago Ubisoft announced Quartz, a platform for selling non-fungible tokens in the form of cosmetic in-game items. As we remember, the video with the announcement of the company had to be hidden due to the tsunami of negative reactions. How became known, the head of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, had a conversation with the company’s employees, during which he clarified his views on the blockchain perspective. In his opinion, NFT tokens are a phenomenon in the same category as microtransactions, DLC or loot boxes. Players greeted their announcements with indignation, but over time they get used to it and begin to fork out.
Apparently, the company is not going to abandon its plans. However, the head of Ubisoft has not yet revealed any details of the development of blockchain aspects of games, focusing on the concept of the metaverse and “Web 3.0”.
Recall that GSC Game World recently announced NFT content in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl… But the players greeted the news with such indignation that the developers had to immediately back down.
