As reported by VGC, the authors of Destruction AllStars are no longer working on Twisted Metal for PS5, apparently Sony Interactive Entertainment would have relieved Lucid Games from office a few months ago to entrust the work to an internal studio based in Europe.
The source does not report which study is in question but Push Square seems to have received certain information about it and according to what was declared by the Twisted Metal newspaper for PlayStation 5 it would now be in development in the Firesprite studios, a company acquired by Sony in 2021 and already working on various projects including Horizon Call of the Mountain per PlayStation VR2.
The parties involved have not confirmed anything at the moment but Push Square reiterates the reliability of the sources and so did VGC, with the latter however able to confirm the handover between Lucid and Firesprite. Apparently the lukewarm reception reserved for Destruction AllStars would have convinced Sony to lift Lucid Games from office and entrust the project to an internal studio based in Europe, curiously both Lucid Games and Firesprite are both based in Liverpool.
At the moment, in any case, there are no certainties but the existence of a new game has been confirmed by several sources in the past and the game could make its debut simultaneously with la serie TV Twisted Metal.
