Interesting information was shared by the well-known publication Bloomberg: according to the source, Sony will not stop releasing the PlayStation 4, despite the significant obsolescence of this platform. The PS4 is supposedly scheduled to be released for the entire 2022 year before its end.
As the reason for this decision, the shortage of new PlayStation 5 is indicated, in connection with which there is a steady demand for the old console. But the difference is that the old one is just easier to produce, since there is no shortage of more advanced chips used in the PS5.
Although Sony previously did not comment on plans to discontinue the release of the PS4, Bloomberg assures that the console was originally supposed to go down in history last year, but the very shortage of chips changed the situation.
Recall that the PlayStation 4 became available to the general public at the end of 2013. For 8 full years of its life cycle, the device remains relevant largely due to the efforts of its developers, who continue to actively support it, as well as third-party developers who are still releasing their new games for this platform. The PS4 has sold over 100 million units to date.
