Ubisoft finally wants to bring the comeback of The Settlers to the stage in the new year. The new title, which has been announced for a long time, now has a concrete release date.
After a somewhat longer wait than initially planned, The Settlers should finally celebrate its comeback this year. Today Ubisoft announced the release date for the mix of building and real-time strategy game – and it’s not that long in coming.
From March 17, 2022, the PC can be reset in the classic way. You can discover new lands, collect resources, recruit allies, train military units and successively expand your settlement.
The reboot developed by Ubisoft Düsseldorf was primarily inspired by The Settlers 3 and The Settlers 4, but was developed from scratch based on the Snowdrop engine. Colorful and lush biomes await you, as well as modernized gameplay. There will be three different game modes: Single Player Campaign, Onslaught and Skirmish (Solo vs. AI, Co-op vs. AI or PvP with up to eight players).
What’s the topic? In the new game, the Elari faction is forced to flee their homeland and settle in a new and unknown land. Adventure awaits the settlers when they meet other factions and face tough challenges on their journey. There are three playable factions in total, each with a unique look, playstyle, and backstory.
Ahead of the release, there will be a closed beta starting January 20th for select players to participate in. For the release on March 17th via Ubisoft Connect and in the Epic Games Store there will be the following three editions:
-
Standard Edition: basic game
-
Explorer Edition (Retail Edition): Base game, as well as physical and digital goodies
-
Digital: The Explorer Pack containing the exclusive title “Explorer”, a compassemblem and the landmark “Sign of the Scout”
-
Physically: Three lithographs of concept art of the game plus a physical version of selected parts of the game soundtrack
-
-
Deluxe Edition: Base game, deluxe pack and other digital goodies
In March, the classic strategy series The Settlers will celebrate its comeback as a reboot.
