Wikimedia Ukraine named the most popular articles in the Ukrainian-language section of Wikipedia in 2021. The list was topped by the article “Ukraine”, which this year for the first time received more than a million views a year. The most popular articles also included articles on English and Ukrainian, the United States and Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.
Note that Wikipedia is the largest online encyclopedia in the world and one of the most popular sites in Ukraine. Currently, Wikipedia has more than 1,132,000 articles in Ukrainian.
“Traditionally, we see that the rating of the most popular articles depends on what interests and excites Ukrainians.
For example, this year the interest in the subject of war has grown: articles on the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the war in eastern Ukraine have returned to the top of the most popular articles, and for the first time in many years an article on NATO has been included.
Ukrainians are also more interested in movies and TV series: the article “List of 250 top rated IMDb films” broke the record and ranked thirteenth in popularity, thanks to the series “Majestic Century” topped the article about Roxolana, and “Crown” – about Elizabeth II. , – commented Mykola Kozlenko, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Wikimedia Ukraine and Administrator of the Ukrainian section of Wikipedia.
