Ubisoft collaborated with Pathe and French filmmaker Jean-Jacques Annaud to create a new VR experience about the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in 2019.
The game will release in March 2022, as will the IMAX disaster documentary “Notre Dame on Fire” detailing how firefighters managed to control the fire and prevent the entire ancient building from burning down.
In the VR game of the same name, players will get right into the fire department on the night when the famous cathedral caught fire. According to representatives of the Ubisoft studio, materials from Assassin’s Creed Unity were used in its creation.
“Like any escape game, you’ll have to solve puzzles and collaborate with teammates in our game,” Deborah Papiernick, senior vice president at Ubisoft, told Variety. “The idea is to go through the cathedral, find the relics and fight the fire in order to save Notre Dame.
However, the game will not be a VR remake of the film, but will offer an alternate history.
“The fact that we had access [к сценарию фильма]helped our team a lot. This does not mean that we have translated everything into gameplay; rather, it gave our team something to think about when adapting.
It is not yet clear which platforms the game will be released on.
