Yesterday, the crypto group Spice DAO, responsible for the Spice cryptocurrency, announced buying at one of the auctions of a copy of the concept art book “Dunes” by Alejandro Jodorowsky. They spent 2.66 million euros on it. The plans include making the book available to everyone, releasing an animated series based on the book and selling it to streaming services, and supporting various projects of the Dunes community.
We won the auction for €2.66M. Now our mission is to:
1. Make the book public (to the extent permitted by law)
2. Produce an original animated limited series inspired by the book and sell it to a streaming service
3. Support derivative projects from the community pic.twitter.com/g4QnF6YZBp

The acclaimed director planned to make a film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s book in the 70s, but it didn’t get any further than a concept book, which was released in a limited edition for the production team and studio presentations. It contains the work of such famous science fiction artists as Hans Giger, Jean Giraud and Chris Foss. There were 20 books in total.
In fact, there are big questions about the auction for the book, and the Spice cryptocurrency itself and the group around it can be called more fraudulent than charitable. Perhaps attracting attention to the purchase of the book simply contributes to the Spice cryptocurrency pump, and owning this coin will only allow you to vote on what to do with a copy of the book.
It’s funny that the book has long been scanned and available on the Internet to everyone, and it’s simply impossible to film a series based on it – the group bought only a copy of the book, and not the rights to Dune. As a result, Spice DAO has only a book and that’s it.
Very “good” investment of 2.66 million euros.
