Ubi Soft’s racing game Downtown Run was evident from the great Xbox role model Project Gotham Racing inspired: You whiz through various world metropolises in a series of licensed vehicles and earn ‘prestige’ points to unlock new cars and courses.
There are also a number of extras that can be used and many racing modes, but the copy still falls flat on its face: the graphics are fast and fluid, but they are very simple. Thanks to the frustrating counting of points and the constant risk of total loss, motivation is also very limited.
Boring car race with good ideas but poor execution.
