In the past few hours, two PlayStation 3 offshoots of the “Prince of Persia” series have appeared in the PlayStation 5’s PlayStation Store. As is currently apparent, however, we should not see any indication of an imminent announcement of the “Project Spartacus” streaming service in the whole thing.
After unconfirmed reports about a new subscription service, which is currently being created under the working title “Project Spartacus”, have been making the rounds over the past few weeks, the rumor mill has given us new things to talk about in the last few hours.
Two PlayStation 3 titles recently appeared in the PlayStation Store of the PlayStation 5: “Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands” and “Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones HD”. It was quickly speculated that this could be a first concrete indication of the “Project Spartacus” subscription service, which is said to include, among other things, extended backwards compatibility with older PlayStation consoles. However, according to Twitter user Ryan Biniecki aka “Mystic Ryan”, we shouldn’t set our expectations too high, as there is apparently just a simple error behind the whole thing, which, according to “Mystic Ryan” and other users, does not appear for the first time.
An official statement is still pending
As it is also said, we are simply dealing here with the product entries of “Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands” and “Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones HD”, with which the two PS3 classics were published in the course of their publication PlayStation Now have been provided. Supporting the information provided by “Mystic Ryan” is the fact that the price shown for the action-adventure in the PS5 store corresponds to the prices at which the PS3 classics were offered during the course of their release via PlayStation Now.

And then there would be the fact that said bug kept appearing over the past year and caused titles such as “Fallout: New Vegas”, “Fallout 4”, “Rainbow Six: Vegas” or “ Dead or Alive 6” in the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation 5. We can therefore assume that we are dealing with a technical error in the PlayStation Store this time as well.
An official statement from Sony Interactive Entertainment on this subject is still pending. We’ll tell you what the rumors about the new subscription service “Project Spartacus” are all about here.
Here’s a link to when these games joined PS Now in 2015 (at some point they were removed). They had a 30 day rental option and the prices are the same: https://t.co/Kq7D8t5Pev https://t.co/t7rNQEFQDD
