It’s breaking news! Apparently, Microsoft is already finalizing the details of the deal that will result in the absorption of Activision Blizzard, the studio responsible for the Call of Duty games saga, and of course, also for other highly popular games such as World of Warcraft and Diablo.
It will be an investment of 68.7 billion dollars!
Microsoft go buy at Activision Blizzard
Therefore, Microsoft is planning to acquire and absorb Activision Blizzard, after the latter has gone through a troubled period, namely at the end of 2021. In this way, the current boss of the Xbox department will serve as CEO of Activision Blizzard, when the process get finished.
Interestingly, this is Microsoft’s biggest acquisition, costing the aforementioned nearly 69 billion dollars. An investment that could bring a lot of added value to the Xbox gaming ecosystem, as Phil Spencer has already commented on the addition of key titles to the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
In short, but it’s a great move by Microsoft, to put itself in an even more privileged position in the world of video games. After all, if all goes well, with more than 400 million monthly active players, spread across 190 countries, the North American giant will get its hands on another, fully fledged, gaming giant.
So, after the purchase of ZeniMax (Bethesda) and now of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft will have 30 in-house studios! As well as rights to several extremely well-known sagas in the industry. In this way, if by chance you still doubted Microsoft’s (Xbox) bet in the world of videogames… Well, it can be clarified now.
