Insider Jeff Grubb shared his thoughts on the future of the Call of Duty series.
“Warzone will remain a multi-platform game, but I think that the main parts of Call of Duty will become exclusives. Microsoft has already considered every scenario in its purchase of Bethesda and has determined that Game Pass exclusivity is the best way to achieve its financial goals. The company views the money it loses from PlayStation sales as an investment or marketing expense to promote Xbox Game Pass.
I’m basing my assumptions on Microsoft’s own research, but I believe the right Call of Duty games are service-oriented enough to change the variables. I do not know. It’s weird,” the insider tweeted.
Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said the deal will close by June 2023. Microsoft previously bought Activision Blizzard for $70 billion.
