The Safe Internet League has lost all its members. The organization is best known for its proposals for strict regulation of the Internet. The former participants stated that they had not participated in the work of the “League” for a long time. Now she is carrying out a large-scale reorganization, including a change in the charter and conditions for participation in it. It will last until April 2022, but may be delayed.
The Safe Internet League is in a state of complete reorganization, Kommersant writes. This organization is known for its proposals for strict regulation of the Runet and huge fines for various web services, including social networks.
From the “League”, founded by the owner of the Tsargrad TV channel Konstantin Malofeev and led Ekaterina Mizulina (daughter of a member of the Federation Council Elena Mizulina), at the time of publication of the material, all participants left. According to the publication, it is currently reorganizing not only the list of participants, but also the board and even the board of trustees.
Recall that among the members of the “League” were major Russian telecom operators, including “Rostelecom”, “MegaFon”, “VympelCom” (“Beeline”) and MTS. Along with them, companies from the information security segment, for example, Kaspersky Lab, as well as a number of other IT companies and several non-profit foundations, also participated in the project.
MegaFon was among the first to leave. This happened on February 2, 2022 by decision of the shareholders’ meeting.
Remarkably, the rest of the telecom operators were part of the League until February 8, 2022. However, their representatives assured the publication that they left it a long time ago. In particular, this was voiced by employees of Beeline and Rostelecom. Representatives of Kaspersky Lab made a similar statement. According to them, although the company was listed in the League, it did not carry out any activities in it.
Representatives of the Safe Internet League confirmed to Kommersant the fact of the reorganization. However, they added, the process is much more comprehensive.
