In fairness, there were only a few projects with discounts of more than 90% in the service. Out of tens of thousands.
In early February, Valve announced upcoming changes to the discount policy of its Steam service, which should take effect on March 28. Now it’s the turn clarificationswhat these changes will actually be.
So, most importantly: the minimum interval between setting discounts for the game will be reduced from six to four weeks (28 days). Valve clarifies that developers and publishers are free to set a discount on their product in honor of its release, but in this case they still have to wait four weeks to submit the project for sale again. Naturally, there is a rule and an exception; its name is large seasonal sales on Steam: summer, autumn, winter and “moon”.
Also, if for one reason or another the price of a product in any currency has increased, the authors do not have the right to set a discount on it within four weeks from the date of the price increase. Whether this item also applies to the exception with seasonal events is not entirely clear from the text on Steam.
During the promotion it is forbidden to change prices, and the size of discounts must be no less than 10% and no more than 90%. This limitation has a certain rational grain: discounts of less than 10% and more than 90% on Steam are so rare that they can be called a statistical error.
