Players are used to the fact that every autumn a new part of the Call of Duty shooter, which is the main game series for Activision Blizzard, is released. The new Call of Duty for this year has already been announced – it will be released by Infinity Ward. And next year can do without the next part of the series, as reported by the portal Bloomberg.
Renowned gaming journalist and insider Jason Schreier (who writes for Bloomberg) has revealed that Activision Blizzard has made the decision to delay the release of Call of Duty, which was originally scheduled for next year. According to him, this game is being developed by Treyarch (known from the Black Ops series). He notes that the decision to postpone the release date of the project was made due to the failure of Vanguard sales, and this has nothing to do with the fact that Microsoft intends to complete the deal to buy Activision Blizzard in 2023.
Bloomberg writes that instead of a major release of Call of Duty for 2023, it is planned to continue supporting the new part of Modern Warfare, which is due out in 2022. In addition, a shareware online shooter (it seems that this is not Warzone 2) may be released in 2023, with the development of which Treyarch also helps.
Note that new games in the Call of Duty series have been released annually since 2005.
