The team was allegedly able to prove their lack of ties to the government.

On March 2, the Electronic Sports League esports organization announced that Virtus.pro and Gambit would not be able to compete in Pro League matches due to ties to the Russian government or sanctioned individuals. Virtus.pro does not agree with this decision.
The team published statement, in which she accused ESL of following a cancellation culture. Virtus.pro is confident that the team should not be subject to restrictions.
On request [ESL] we have prepared a complete and comprehensive answer, supported by all the necessary documents. But this question was just a formality. Publicly, ESL has announced that we are disqualified due to alleged association with the government and sanctioned companies.
However, in private correspondence, a different wording was used: although we are not connected with the government, WE MAKE THE IMPRESSION that there is a connection.
There is no rational reason to remove us from tournaments, except for prejudice and external pressure. This is a prime example of a “cancellation culture”.
Although Virtus.pro does not agree with the removal of the team, the management will not prevent esports players from participating in ESL Pro League competitions as individuals: without team logos, sponsors and Russia.
