Business Insider Sources report on the development by Sony of a system of additional monetization for developers. Similar to Microsoft’s plans for an in-game ad program for Xbox, Sony will also launch integration on PlayStation platforms.
Unlike Microsoft, Sony’s ad system will be built in at the platform level, rewarding players for interacting with ads. This is similar to monetization in mobile games, where users are given in-game items for watching commercials. How exactly the impressions or integrations will take place will be determined by the game developers themselves, and Sony will become only a supplier of advertising.

For Sony, this will be an additional opportunity to monetize games. The company will be able to take a percentage of revenue or track ad trackers, obtaining information about users, which it can potentially sell to developers and advertisers.
The statement about this approach came after the news of the merger of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, which will be called PlayStation Plus and will be available by subscription in three versions.
