Actor training for filming is a common thing. About one Christian Bale, who either gains muscle mass or loses tens of kilograms, there are already a lot of memes. Alexander Skarsgård also sweated to prepare for the filming of Varyag.
In the film, he played the main role of Prince Amleth, a mighty Viking. To match his image, he gained nine kilograms of muscle along with renowned trainer Magnus Lygdbeck. He even released a big video about it on his channel.
Ligdbek set himself the goal of making Alexander something between a wolf and a bear, which were the spirit animals of Amlet. To do this, he worked out in the gym six days a week for three months. Training was during the filming, but already five times a week.
The training was not very hard, it lasted about an hour, but probably during this hour Skarsgård could not even rest. So Ligdbek trains clients – after an hour, according to him, the destruction of the body begins.
He also followed the diet. Skarsgård ate five meals a day every two to three hours. Only 3700 calories per day. He adhered to such a diet for nine months: three months before filming and six during the filming process.
Varyag is already in theaters in the US and other countries, but the film is not available in Russia.
