Halo Infinite’s long-discussed battle royale mode is said to have single-player elements and won’t launch until November at the earliest.
Speaking on The Xbox Two podcast, WindowsCentral journalist Jez Corden said he had heard various details about the game’s yet-to-be-announced BR mode. According to Corden, the battle royale mode will include some mechanics from Halo Infinite’s single-player campaign, such as side quests.
There were side quests in Halo like “come here, clear a lot of mobs” or “come here and kill a valuable target,” for example, he said. They will be in this mode as well, as a kind of evolving objectives, and I think you will win by scoring points and killing everyone else, again, I don’t know for sure.
The journalist claims that BR could debut as part of a third season of Infinite scheduled for late 2022, although Corden admitted that it could be pushed back to 2023.
I think there are no hard deadlines if he [режим] isn’t ready then they aren’t going to release it until the fourth season, which is probably why they haven’t announced it in full yet.
The game mode, which is rumored to be in development by Certain Affinity, will also feature player vs player vs environment mechanics.
What I heard is that they are testing something like PvPvE… It’s not a traditional battle royale, it’s not going to be a complete clone or PUBG for example. I heard that it will be duets and trios.
Corden also shared some of the details he heard about the game’s map and the mode’s development process.
It’s a big map with a shrinking area, like a battle royale, it forces you to move around the map… there are various objectives and such. For example, you can capture forward operating bases.
The mode has been in development for two years now, and one of the elements of the terms of reference is that it talks about bringing in people who aren’t traditional Halo fans.
