Although they have been recognized as cultural assets, video games still do not have an easy life in Italy and this is reflected in the distorted vision of digital entertainment that generalist media continue to advocate on the small screen. Here then is the “best of the worst” of the services broadcast on TV.
Starting from the absurd juxtaposition between video games and cocaine relaunched by TG1 in a recent article on addiction among young people, we thus went in search of the most incredible slips made by the generalist press and local television in dealing superficially with the videogame medium and its more direct phenomena.
From the inevitable references to Grand Theft Auto as to the triggering cause of youth violence to the slips committed by presenters and authors of services forced to approach the world of video games without having the slightest knowledge of the subject, the sample of horror and videogame disinformation offered to us by the small screen in recent years deserves to be remembered.
For a further study on the subject, we warmly invite you to read our special by Giuseppe Carrabba on video games and the most absurd services on TV and in the news.
