Analysts from GfK published the results of a study of the Russian online cinema market for the first quarter of this year. The report indicates that the services managed to increase the number of subscribers, and Kinopoisk remains the undisputed leader.
When publishing such materials, it is necessary to immediately tell about the group of people who took part in the survey. So, GfK employees interviewed residents of Russian cities aged 16 to 55 years. So, among them, 46% used a subscription to online cinemas in the first quarter. Even in the fourth quarter of last year, there were only 44% of such people.
According to the results of the study, it was also possible to find out that 30% of users pay for a subscription (in the past period, they were only 28%). As for the most popular on-line service, Kinopoisk is unconditionally considered to be it – the total number of subscribers, paid and free with a trial period, was taken into account when calculating.
15.1% of residents of Russian cities have subscribed to the most popular online cinema, and 10% of respondents are paid subscribers. Following Kinopoisk is ivi, it has 12% of the inhabitants of Russian cities and 6.7% of the paid model. In third place is Okko with 7.9% of urban residents and 4.2% for the paid model.

We dare to assume that the situation in the second quarter will be very different from what it was in the first three months. All major film studios have left Russia, licenses for the rental of TV shows and films in online cinemas will continue to be withdrawn, so it will be increasingly difficult for users to find reasons for themselves to renew their subscription further.
