Chinese-Canadian e-sports player Biofrost, who plays professionally in League of Legends, came out and criticized the video game sports industry for its lack of inclusiveness.
He published big tweet post in which he admitted he was gay. Biofrost said he had a hard time living in China with families that didn’t appreciate him and wanted him to stop acting like a girl. Bullying continued at school and later in the video game industry.
On every team I’ve been on, I’ve heard homophobic comments from teammates or employees, I’ve felt uncomfortable, I even got the fear of losing my job if I suddenly tell the truth.
He reported that there is sexism, prejudice and homophobia in the gaming industry. Biofrost isn’t sure there’s a quick fix, but everyone should be treated with dignity. It is necessary to train employees in eSports to the correct behavior in the workplace.
He released this statement to highlight the concerns of the esports community. The Biofrost post became very popular and received almost 173k likes on Twitter. He was supported by many popular esportsmen, for example, Sonic Fox.
