In 2019, Netflix released a film adaptation of the comic book Polaris, in which Mads Mikkelsen played the role of a hitman named Black Kaiser. Critics smashed the tape, but the creators will not stop there.
Now a new adaptation of the comic is in the making, with all the original cast including Mikkelsen, director Jonas Åkerlund and screenwriter Jason Rothwell.
Now the tape will be called “Black Kaiser”. According to producers from Constantin Film and JB Pictures, this will be a new interpretation of the comic, not a sequel or prequel.
The plot of the comic is centered around one of the most dangerous killers on the planet, Duncan Weasel, nicknamed the Black Kaiser, who decided to leave his bloody trade and retire. However, it is not so easy to escape from the criminal past – the former employer sends a whole army of newly minted killers, with whom Vizl will have to cope.
Perhaps the new film will be the second attempt to show the main events of the “Polyarny”. The first part got 19/100 on Metacritic and 19% “freshness” on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience took the picture a little warmer.
