jokes about EVE Online as a “table simulator in space” has long accompanied the oldest MMO. So when last week CCP Games announced cooperation with Microsoft and importing data into Excel, many probably were not very surprised.
According to brand manager Emily Acland, it all started with a discussion of those same memes by several employees who went to a bar and consumed some alcohol. But sometimes a joke can go too far. Therefore, the team soon came to the conclusion that the idea was not so crazy, and she should contact Microsoft.
An employee of the company with whom the creative director of CCP Games spoke via video link Bergur Finnbogason, he himself turned out to be a fan of EVE Online, and he had ship models on the shelf. According to him, the Excel team is a longtime fan of the CCP Games creation and seems to have been waiting all these years for the chance to work together.
Also, the guy on the other side of the screen showed Finnbogason a table he had created for EVE Online. According to the creative director, she was the most amazing of all that he had ever seen.
Recall that the studio is also working on two new projects in the EVE Online universe: a tactical shooter and a 4x strategy.
