Wata Games is a company that assesses the condition of sealed retro game cartridges. A year ago, she got into the center of a scandal due to fraud. Allegedly, she, together with the Heritage Auctions auction site, manipulated prices on the market.
According to media reports, Wata Games and Heritage Auctions deliberately inflated the price tag of games (for example, a Super Mario Bros. cartridge was sold for $2 million in the summer). The more expensive the game was, the more royalties the companies received. This is just one of the allegations.
Recently, dissatisfied customers of Wata Games filed a lawsuit in the California District Court. According to the publication VGC, the plaintiffs may be over 10 thousand people.
