The family continues to grow. According to a media report, Alan Ritchson has signed on to star in Fast and Furious 10, the upcoming tenth installment in the wildly popular Fast and Furious franchise. While the exact details of his role have not been revealed, the Reacher star is just the latest name to round out the stellar cast of Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) high-octane new adventure.
Ritchson is the perfect fit for the film that’s currently in production. He currently stars in the Amazon Prime series Reacher, playing ex-soldier Jack Reacher. The series recently completed its first season and has been renewed for a second. Prior to that, he played Hawkeye for three seasons on HBO Max’s Titans.
While casting for Fast & Furious 10 has gone smoothly so far, the same can’t be said for other aspects of the production. As soon as the project officially went into production, it became known that director Justin Lin was leaving the director’s chair. Lin was one of the main characters in the franchise, directing five of the nine films in the main series, including the last installment. His departure reportedly comes amid a strained relationship with series star Diesel. However, he remained on board as an executive producer, with Louis Leterrier taking over directing duties.
Fast & Furious 10 marks the beginning of the end: the film is expected to be the first part of a two-episode finale. According to Gibson, the film will tell the backstory of the Toretto family. Despite the relatively mundane nature of the story, each film in the series has been noted for how it has surpassed its predecessor. After Fast & Furious 9 sent two of its heroes into space in a car, it remains to be seen how Fast & Furious 10 will be able to surpass him. Perhaps this time the heroes will discover time travel for themselves?
Fast & Furious 10 hits screens on May 19, 2023.
