Apple is already testing an iPhone with a USB-C port

Following past rumors, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is indeed ditching its own Lightning port in favor of the much more mainstream USB-C standard in all future iPhone models.

For those who do not like to mess with different cables, this is great news, especially since every year the unification of ports still moves to its logical conclusion – a universal port for all purposes.

According to an analyst, Apple is reluctant to move away from Lightning, as it is much more profitable in terms of additional revenue and has better water resistance than USB. However, given that a new requirement was adopted in Europe for the transition of all small and medium-sized equipment to USB-C, Apple decided not to delay the fact that it was inevitable anyway.

Beyond convenience and unification, the move to USB-C also means much faster data transfer speeds. Naturally, the company has yet to go through a transitional period of widespread adoption, but within a few generations of iPhone, Lightning will be forgotten as additional peripherals move to the new standard.

According to Bloomberg, the transition to USB-C will not take place until 2023, so this season you should not count on a new format.
