Tomonobu Itagaki wants to get back into video game development and just got back on Twitter to talk about his new game, which hasn’t been revealed yet, but which could be promising considering it’s one of the main writers for Ninja Maiden and Dead or Alive .
Despite its glorious past, the developer has not been able to stay at a high level after a rather turbulent departure from Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo. In fact, a new studio, Valhalla Games, closed its doors in 2021 with only one major game completed, namely Devil’s Third, which failed to impress the gaming community, as did the subsequent Devil’s Third Online, which closed its servers after less than a year of operation.
In any case, this does not seem to have demoralized the game designer, given that he seems intent on returning to the fray with a new project. It is not yet entirely clear how he will develop it, since officially he no longer has a team, but from such a person one can expect new things and even unexpected decisions.
Itagaki’s new tweet, published in just the last few hours, only reports that the author has now reopened the account and will be sharing “the life of the game and its creative process” through the social network in the future.
