Kate Dollarhyde, lead writer, has left Obsidian. Now the team is looking for someone to take her place. Dollarhyde tweeted the following:
After five fantastic years at Obsidian, I’m leaving the studio to pursue my personal creative goals! This is my last week with the team. I am grateful to the many brilliant designers I have been fortunate to learn from and to all the dear friends I have met. Thanks everyone.
Dollarhide, as she also explains in a later tweet, worked on Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire, The Outer Worlds and related DLCs. “It has been a pleasure and a privilege for me to be involved in the creation of my favorite worlds.”
We also learned on the Obsidian website that the team is looking for a new lead narrative designer to work on the company’s “next RPG”. Responsibilities include managing the writing team, directing the style and aesthetic chosen for the game’s storytelling, and writing some of the game’s dialogue and text. We are looking for someone with at least three years of experience and at least one published game that has a multiple choice dialogue.
We also recently learned that Avowed may be being developed on Unreal Engine 5: the lead VFX artist is actually working with Niagara technology.
