The leading Russian publishing house of comics Bubble (“Major Grom”, among other things) plans to release a collection of graphic stories based on the cult crime drama “Brother” in August this year. This is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the tape, Roman Kotkov, editor-in-chief of the publishing house, told TASS.
“We took more time to make the book interesting and versatile. These are very different stories from very different authors,” Kotkov announced. The print edition will go to the end of August.
According to Kotkov, the collection will feature many characters from both “Brother” and “Brother 2”, which will receive either author’s sequels or backstory. Moreover, the comics will not repeat the events of the films verbatim. “It develops or continues lines from the movie, but it’s not a redrawn scene,” the editor explained.
The Russian premiere of Alexei Balabanov’s film “Brother” took place in December 1997. In March of this year, the tape had a re-release.
