The head of the Polish studio Bloober Team Piotr Babeno gave a comment to the journalists of the publication IGN as part of the Digital Dragons game conference on the rumors about the development of a remake of Silent Hill 2.
The CEO and co-founder of Bloober Team did not confirm or deny this information, saying that fans need to wait for the official announcement.
We can’t talk about it because we value our relationships with third party partners. We will announce our upcoming projects as soon as we can.
Babeno also talked about what it’s like to work on a game under a third-party license, using Blair Witch as an example. The head of the Bloober Team noted that his team gets to work only if it is given some space for new stories. Probably, his words also apply to a potential remake of Silent Hill 2.
It’s hard, but we always tell our partners that we’d like to tell our own story. If we don’t have creative freedom, then it doesn’t make sense, because then we won’t make a cool game.
Therefore, we try to work only on those games where we can show ourselves, so that we can clearly say: “Yes, this is the game of the Bloober Team, and not someone else.” The same applies to the project, which we cannot talk about yet.
Previously, Bloober Team entered into an agreement with Konami, and then stated that they were working on two titles. One for the Japanese publisher and one for the Private Division. At the same time, in an interview with IGN, Babeno noted that another project is in pre-production.
Earlier on the network, several insiders and the media at once said that several Silent Hill games are in the works at once. A remake of the second part from the Bloober Team, an episodic game, probably from Annapurna Interactive, and a full new part.
