GIGABYTE Technology, a leader in high performance servers and workstations, today announced the release of the new G492-PD0 scalable supercharged server that supports Ampere Altra Max or Altra processors with NVIDIA HGX A100 Tensor Core GPUs for maximum performance in the cloud.
Utilizing a high core count Ampere Altra Max processor, up to 128 Armv8.2 cores per socket with an Arm M1 core, the G492-PD0 effectively delivers high performance and minimizes total cost of ownership.
GIGABYTE developed the G492-PD0 in response to the need for high performance platforms beyond x86, namely Ampere’s Arm-based processors. This new G492 server has been tailored to run the performance of the NVIDIA baseboard accelerator without sacrificing CPU or GPU performance. This server complements the existing line of GIGABYTE G492 servers supporting the NVIDIA HGX A100 8-GPU baseboard based on AMD EPYC (G492-ZL2, G492-ZD2, G492-ZD0) and Intel Xeon Scalable (G492-ID0) platforms.
The G492 server line uses a new cooling solution that dedicates a cooling chamber to the NVIDIA accelerators and GPUs used in network expansion slots, providing the highest possible airflow to cool high performance components. On top of the 3U GPU bay sits a 1U server that houses the CPU, memory, storage, and front expansion slots.
Thanks to the high efficiency of Ampere processors, the 1U thin server is able to support peak performance, including filling all Gen4 U.2 NVMe drive bays and two additional expansion slots on the front of the chassis without any compromise.
