A recent job announcement published by Sony Interactive Entertainment would suggest the company’s desire to bring the PlayStation Network (PSN) platform also to PC, probably with integration of the Trophies and all the features of the PlayStation ecosystem.
The company is looking for a Product Manager for the division “PC Game Experiences“, this figure will be responsible for coordinating the development and producing PlayStation experiences on PChe will also have to manage the development kits and “client applications, as well as the integration of the PlayStation PSN network platform“, and the latter is the most interesting part of the job offer.
Clearly it is too early to draw conclusions but judging from the description it seems that Sony is interested in proposing its own gaming client for PC, probably for avoid continuing to depend on marketplaces like Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Sell games on your own Launcher (as did Rockstar Games or Bethesda) it would allow Sony to maximize profits for every game sold on PC and probably also integrate Trophies into Windows games, thus expanding the PlayStation ecosystem to PC, Mac and possibly mobile platforms as well. It is no mystery that Sony is increasingly attracted to the world of PC gaming, seen as one of the key points to expand the PlayStation brand.
