Co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide recently became main topic of the new issue of the magazine EDGEwhere appeared fresh details and materials by project.

The game will have a deep study of mythology – the scriptwriter of the game Dan Abnett noted that the development team is even too zealous in this matter, coming up with a history of places that users can simply run through in a couple of seconds.

Darktide has already written 75 thousand lines of dialogue, and this is not the limit. With each new launch of the game, users will discover additional details for themselves – the name of the same street may change, and the locals call certain places on the map in their own way.

The key difference between the novelty will be the ability to create your own hero by customizing his equipment, appearance, and so on. The character is recruited into the service of the Inquisitor, after which he, along with three partners, will have to make his way through the dangers of missions in the planet’s hive city Atom Prime.

The game will feature at least four classes, one of which is psyker – the choice among them seems to be determined by the set of options available in advance. For example, the same Psyker can arm himself with a sword, but the plasmagun is not available to him.

Each of the classes will have their own abilities, such as an additional bonus when hitting an enemy head with veteran or skill Fanaticism break into the camp of opponents, forcing them to fight in close combat.

Different representatives of the classes show individual traits that are reflected through a complex system of dialogues. Conversations rely on context – communication between characters who do not like each other is different from the dialogue between a veteran and a newcomer. Differences in communication also arise between representatives of different classes and races, based on past success and even the level of the character.

Classes will also have their own limitations – for example, if a Psyker overdoes it with siphoning powers from the Warp, he can succumb to the “dark side”, literally exploding in the manner sienna from Vemintide.

But the Psyker is able to use the forces not only for attacks, but also for defense. But, the truth is, each of the classes has some variation of the “shield”. The veteran is protected by armor, the Zealot is the strength of faith, and Ogrin – own skin. Moreover, if the characters are next to each other, their shields are restored faster.

The story campaign will continue to develop after the launch – the authors are going to add new missions, dialogues and the like, model recalls service game that looks like Destiny 2.

And the system that controls the enemy hordes is similar to the “director” from Left 4 Dead – it counts the number of killed enemies and the speed of their extermination. The system can even recognize the weaponry of the team and members that deal more damage, adjusting to what is happening.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will release on September 13 for PC and Xbox Series.
