The latest rumors about the PS5 Pro release within 3 years continue to hold sway on social media and industry sites. Intrigued by this growing swarm of rumors, the youtuber specialized in technical analysis RedGamingTech has consulted his anonymous sources to understand what is cooking around Sony.
In an exchange that took place recently on Twitter, the well-known content creator linked up with the latest rumors made by leaker Foxy to point out how “it’s actually a topic that I dealt with some time ago, with my sources saying they are certain of the fact that PS5 Pro will deliver double the power (compared to the current PlayStation 5, ed) in standard rastering and performance 2.5 times higher in the management of Ray Tracing“.
For the youtuber, therefore, PS5 Pro will be a monster of power and he reiterates this by sharing another, important reflection on the hardware of the rumored midgen version of PlayStation 5: “It is likely that it will adopt a new graphics architecture. I am referring to Sony’s recent patents in which the company specifies that it wants to use a completely different technology from RDNA 2 as regards the processing of Ray Tracing”.
As usual, we invite you to take this kind of advances with all the necessary precautions, especially given the impossibility of ascertaining the truthfulness and reliability of the anonymous sources from which RGT and other self-styled leakers draw.
I actually covered this quite a bit ago, with my own sources stating it’s 2x increase in raster perf, 2.5x in RT performance.
It is likely using a new graphics IP. I covered a patent from Sony which is entirely different to RDNA 2’s RT implementation btw.

I’m also hearing Sony are working on a portable too. Though whether these systems get canceled or not, I don’t know. The portable underwent at least one major redesign (very early on the design process).
PS5 Pro won’t launch sooner than 2024 though, more likely 25 (IF it does)
