Publisher Wired Productions and Italian studio LKA have announced that talented English voice actress Annie Warburton has won the Games – Best Performance – Female award at The One Voice Awards 2022, the UK’s leading voice acting conference. Annie won the award for her outstanding performance as Julia, the complex protagonist of the first-person psychological thriller Martha Is Dead.
The action takes place in Tuscany, Italy, in 1944, when the conflict between German and Allied forces intensifies. The story follows Julia investigating the death of her twin sister Martha. Blurring the lines between reality, superstition and the tragedy of war, Martha Is Dead has received worldwide critical acclaim since its launch earlier this year.
“Playing Julia was an absolute dream come true for a voice actor. From sensitive and complex topics to various voices, this role really pulled me in in a good way, ”said Annie Warburton. “It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to play such a layered and intricately crafted protagonist in a game, so I am incredibly grateful to Wired Productions and the LKA for entrusting Julia to me. I put all my energy into this role in the hope that I can do justice to her, so I’m delighted to receive this award.”
