Along with the top Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Qualcomm has introduced a new mid-range 4nm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset.
The chipset features a Kryo CPU clocked at up to 2.4GHz along with an Adreno 662 GPU. Qualcomm claims that the new chip handles graphics 20% faster than the Snapdragon 778G, and AI tasks are performed 30% better on the new platform.
Adreno Frame Motion Engine technology doubles the frame rate in games while maintaining the same power consumption as the Snapdragon 778G.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and features a Snapdragon X62 5G modem with up to 4.4Gbps download speed, WiFi 6E support, Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX, and Snapdragon Sound.
The Qualcomm Spectra image processor supports cameras up to 200MP and 4K HDR video recording. Another innovation of the chipset is Android SE and Trusted Management Engine technologies, which promise optimal security for digital keys and wallets.
It is expected that the first smartphones on Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will be released next week.
