Insomniac Games is one of the busiest studios on the PlayStation right now, and after an exceptionally busy period for the studio, it’s not only working on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, but also on an as-yet-unannounced PS5 multiplayer game. The studio has been recruiting for this project lately, and interestingly, the job posting may have revealed an important detail about it.
The job posting for an art director for a multiplayer project (judging by the mention of “art director in a multiplayer environment”) seems to suggest that the game will be a new IP, and one of the duties of the applicant for this role will be to help with “pre-production planning and development of a new IP along with creative directors”.
Past rumors have indicated that Insomniac’s multiplayer will be another Marvel game, and this new information doesn’t necessarily contradict that. A new Marvel property with an original universe and history similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine would technically be new intellectual property for Insomniac, although there’s enough room for doubt that it’s hard to be completely sure.
Of course, given the fact that the developer has a lot more to go at the moment, it will probably be a while before we know what this multiplayer game will be like.
