Streaming service Apple TV+ has acquired the rights to the sci-fi film Fingernails, starring Jesse Buckley and Riz Ahmed.

Deadline reports that the deal was made during the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

“Fingernails” is about a future in which a genetic test measures whether couples truly love each other, leading to the creation of institutions to help develop successful relationships. Riz Ahmed will play Trevo, an instructor at one of these institutes, and Jessie Buckley will play Anna, a skeptical woman who works at the same institution.

The film was directed by Christos Nicu (Apples) and produced by Cate Blanchett, Coco Franchini, Andrew Upton and Jerome Dubos.

The film is set to begin production later in 2022.
