The new Unreal Engine 5 has been officially available for some time now, and talented developers have been doing some extremely impressive things with it right away. For example, well-known games like Portal, Need for Speed 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time have been pimped up a lot by using the Unreal Engine 5. Tech demos from developers also showed us what the new engine is capable of.
The GTA Trilogy could have looked this good
The next game to receive a graphical overhaul from a dedicated gamer is the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas from 2004. In a nearly two-minute video, YouTuber TeaserPlay shows what Grove Street looks like with the new Unreal Engine 5 .
Understandably, the YouTuber couldn’t resist throwing a little dig at Rockstar Games, who thoroughly disappointed their fans with their recently released GTA Trilogy. In the video itself, the protagonist Carl Johnson in particular makes a pretty good impression with his detailed appearance. According to TeaserPlay, the 3D model was provided by Hossein Diba, another YouTuber. On his channel, he focused primarily on the general design of characters for games and cinematics.
With all these awesome fan remakes and the like brought to life using Unreal Engine 5, it’s no wonder more and more development studios are turning to the new engine as well. For example, the new offshoot of the Tomb Raider series is said to be based on the engine, and Mass Effect 5 is also said to be powered by it.
