The information was made public as part of a conference on import substitution.
Rosatom State Corporation plans to completely switch to the domestic Astra Linux operating system by the end of 2024. The relevant information was published by journalists of the online publication CNews. Over the next two and a half years, representatives of the state corporation plan to re-equip up to 130,000 jobs across the country.
The news about the transfer of Rosatom to Astra Linux was first presented at the conference “Software Import Substitution: Time of Opportunity” by Ilya Kholkin, Deputy Director of the State Corporation for Information Technologies.
Ilya Kholkin noted that the company’s goal is to migrate 120-130 thousand jobs to a single information space. It is assumed that more than 300 Rosatom enterprises throughout the country will be transferred to Astra Linux. At the moment, about 20 thousand employees of the state corporation are working with the OS mentioned above, which is slightly more than 20% of all its jobs. By the end of this year, it is planned to “import replace” another 50,000 jobs.
Ilya Kholkin also added that Rosatom faced difficulties in integrating engineering software into the “new import-substituting IT landscape.”
